**New** Ongar Rugby Club is launching its mini rugby programme with two Summer Taster Courses on Thursday, July 23 and Thursday, July 30.
The courses aim to give boys and girls aged 5-8 years old a fun and energetic introduction to Tag Rugby, a non-contact version of rugby. It can be played together by boys and girls of all abilities, developing their physical, technical and game skills.
The Summer Taster courses are a mix of rugby, athletic and creative sessions designed to keep each child occupied, interested and active without over-exerting them. They will work in small groups under the guidance of a coach so that every player progresses and builds confidence. The course culminates in a game session so the kids can test their new skills.
The kids on the Summer Taster courses will also have the chance to come up with a name for the mini rugby teams and design the new kit around the Club colours of Navy Blue and Gold. New mini rugby kit will be available from September 2009.
The courses will run at Ongar Rugby Club, Love Lane Ongar from 9.30am to 12.30pm. The cost is £7 per child and every participant gets a Size 3 trainer ball to take home so they keep practising.

Ongar RFC now play in Essex League 2 and last year we won the Essex Vase. We pride ourselves on being a family orientated, sociable club and we'll welcome any new members of all ages and abilities.
