Ongar Rugby Club is
delighted to announce the launch of its mini rugby programme from
September 2009. The programme gives boys and girls aged 5-8 years
old the chance to play Tag Rugby, a non-contact version of rugby. It
is fun, energetic and can be played together by boys and girls of
all abilities, developing their physical, technical and game skills.
Each Sunday* from September
13 , 2009 there will be training on Sunday mornings between 10am and
11am with a series of matches after Christmas 2009. Check the latest
calendar* on the left and look out for the regular updates are
posted here.
Featured in the Ongar Rugby
Club badge is our historic castle, so the min irugby teams are
called the Ongar Knights.
The programme will be led
by Philip Cranwell, Mini Rugby Coordinator, and to support the
active participation of girls the Club is delighted to have
recruited Katherine Richardson, a qualified sports scientist and
experienced coach. All the coaching team have completed the RFU Tag
Rugby coaching course and the programme will be run in line with
Ongar Rugby Club’s Child Welfare policy and is covered by RFU
insurance.
